Omega Juicer J8006 Review (includes 8006HDS)

Suitable for juice extraction, nuts grinding, and pasta extruding, the Omega juicer J8006 is a favorite nutrition center for people who love delicious and healthy food.

There are quite a few Omega juicers on the market in 2021, and the J8006 has been around for some time. It is still a good buy however, if you are looking for a compact juicer, with a fantastic warranty, at an affordable price.

It is important to know that there are two models of the Omega J8006 juicer. There is the J8006 and J8006HDS. There are three key differences, the wattage of the motor, the handle design on top and the adjustable end cap.

Out of the two Omega Juicers, our preferred choice is the J8006HDS, with the more powerful motor.

Omega J8006 Masticating Juicer with Pulp Ejection System

The Omega juicer 8006 HDS (Heavy Duty System) is based not as much on speed as on torque. It is equipped with a 200 watt motor and masticates your fruits and vegetables at a low 80 revolutions per minute.

Slow mastication allows you also grind solid foods like nuts (think homemade peanut butter), coffee beans, mince garlic, fresh herbs, and harder fruits and vegetables like beetroot and carrots. There is also an attachment to extrude pasta and make frozen fruit sorbets.

Given that the juicer operates at low speed, it omits very little noise. You don’t have to worry disturbing someone else in the house who is sleeping or is working as he or she will barely hear the juicer operating. Omega also suggest placing a towel underneath the juicer to minimize any noise.

For the rest of this post, we are going to focus on the Omega J8006 nutrition center juicer (the HDS model), as it is the better quality Omega juicer out of the J8006 models with the most functionality.

Here is a break down of all the parts of the Omega Juicer J8006 HDS.

How to Use the Omega J8006 Juicer

The first thing you should know about the Omega Juicer J8006 & J8006HDS is the chute is small. You will need to chop your fruits and vegetables into around 2 inch sized pieces.

Chopping your fruits and vegetables into smaller pieces helps to stop anything getting stuck or wrapped around the auger. If something does happen to get stuck, there is a reverse function on this juicer.

We mentioned above that the Omega J8006HDS can create juice, grind coffee, mince garlic and herbs and make pasta – but how? It’s all about the nozzle choice.

For juicing, you will use the adjustable end cap only to control how tightly the fruit or vegetable is squeezed. No nozzles are needed for juicing.

You control the end cap by turning clockwise to tighten the squeeze, or anti clockwise to loosen the squeeze. For juicier fruits like oranges, use the tighter setting.

Alternate between soft and hard foods when juicing. Always start with softer foods and follow with harder foods. This helps to clear out the auger and drum to prevent clogging.

Juicing Wheatgrass and Leafy Greens with the Omega J8006

The Omega J8006HDS can effectively juice wheatgrass and leafy greens. You’ll want to use the loosest setting for wheatgrass, by turning the adjustable end cap anticlockwise as far as it will go.

When juicing leafy greens and wheatgrass, it is normal for some juice to exit the juicer into the pulp bowl, rather than the juice bowl. Once the ejection area is filled with pulp, the juice should then flow freely into the juice bowl.

The most important thing to remember when using the Omega J8006 juicer is not to rush the process. Don’t overfill the chute or hopper or try to squash in too many pieces of fruits or vegetables at once. The more time you give the juicer to masticate the foods, the better the result will be.

Making Nut Butters, Nut Milk, Desserts, Baby Food & Coffee Grinding

Your new Omega J8006HDS is so versatile, you can make homemade nut butters, nut and soy milks, frozen fruit desserts, baby food and grind coffee beans just by changing from the juicing screen to the blank cone. This is a very simple process and completely outlined in the user manual included with the juicer.

For the items listed above you’ll want to use the blank end cap, rather than the juicing end cap that can be tightened or loosened.

Using one of the included nozzles is optional for these foods. For example, if making frozen fruit desserts, you can use one of the two breadstick nozzles to control the shape of the fruit sorbet.

Making Pasta or Breadsticks Using the J8006HDS

This juicing machine shapes the breadsticks or pasta for you. You will need to make the dough separately first, either by hand or with a mixer.

There are 6 choices for how you’d like the pasta or breadsticks to come out of the machine.

One of the benefits of using your Omega juicer to extrude pasta is you can also mix leftover pulp into the dough for added flavor and nutrition.

Omega J8006HDS Cleaning

When it comes to cleaning, the Omega J8006HDS is fairly simple. Before you start to clean the juicer, ensure it is switched off and unplugged.

Start by removing the juicer chute by twisting anti clockwise. Then disassemble the auger, juicer screen and nozzle.

Hand washing the removable parts is recommended, although you can also place them in the top rack of the dishwasher. For longevity of the parts, we recommend sticking with hand washing. The water isn’t as hot as in a dishwasher, your juicer parts won’t be exposed to heat as long and overall will be far more gentle on the juicer parts.

All up cleaning should take less than 5 minutes. Omega also include a cleaning brush to remove pulp from the jucing screen.

Omega Cleaning Tip: Soak the juicer parts in a combination of warm water, dishwashing liquid and baking soda for 30 minutes to help remove pulp and food residue.

Omega Juicer Replacement Parts

One of the things we like the most about Omega juicers is the range of replacement parts available if anything happens to wear out or break.

If a removable part gets broken or is affected by wear and tear, get in touch with Omega Juicers first to see if they can provide you with the needed piece. The J8006HDS juicer is covered by a 15 year warranty.

Omega Juicers J8006HDS – Consumer Feedback

Leaving the beautifully described features on online stores aside, it is important to take a look at customer’s reviews to understand whether or not this juicer is worth the investment.

After scrolling through the reviews, we can conclude that the majority of customers are satisfied with Omega Juicer J8006. If speaking about positive reviews, some people praise the fact that the juicer is easy to assemble and cleans up effortlessly, others tend to mention the quiet operation and large capacity of juicing allowing them to prepare much more juice than with traditional devices.

From negative aspects, people talk about longer juicing time which is a result of low speed mastication that is compensated by more torque. Some users say that the plastic screens get broken fast.

Pros

1. Easy to assemble

2. Reduced noise

3. Easy to use and easy to clean

4. Diverse food prep opportunities

Cons

1. Longer prep time

2. Screens have broken

NB: A broken screen could be attributed to overloading the juicer by placing too many pieces of fruits and vegetables through the juicer at once. Take it slow, don’t overstuff the hopper or feed chute and try to push it all through. If you do, you are more than likely going to cause the screen to break.

Would I Buy the Omega J8006HDS Nutrition Center?

Absolutely. Omega is a top quality juicing brand and the functionality of the J8006HDS doesn’t disappoint.

It’s not the biggest Omega juicer on the market, nor is it the most recent model, but for the price it is a versatile machine that makes excellent juice and is covered by a fantastic warranty.

Make sure you look for the 200 watt juicer machine, not the older model that is 150 watts. Our links throughout the post will take you directly to the juicer on Amazon to take a closer look.
